What is the Secondary Music Suite?

The Secondary Music Suite comprises a set of five programs designed to support secondary music education from KS3 to GCSE and A Level in the UK.

The Secondary Music Suite Programs (‘the Suite’) are: Focus on Sound, Charanga Secondary, OGenPlus, and Auralia/Musition.

Although each of the programs is available individually, the Suite combines them to provide comprehensive support for music teaching and learning at a significantly reduced cost to schools – and with no seat limits.

All programs are cloud-based, so schools and students are not required to download or install any software. The programs can also be accessed using Windows, Macs or iPads (OS 14.5 or later).

Focus on Sound

Focus on Sound is a multimedia interactive learning resource for secondary schools, covering KS3, GCSE, and A-Level. It provides structured lessons, revision work and auto-assessed tests on a user-friendly platform. Focus on Sound integrates seamlessly with Google Classroom and MS Teams, making lesson management easy.

Charanga Secondary with YuStudio

Charanga Secondary combines interactive resources with powerful creative tools to support music-making and learning in the classroom and at home. At the heart of the program is YuStudio, one of the most safeguarded, accessible, and gender-balanced DAWs available. Students can record, score and compose music to video, and securely save their work in the cloud. Practical guidance and support are offered at every touchpoint.

OGenPlus

OgenPlus is a creative tool that helps students get started with composing music in a fun, easy way. Step-by-step video lessons for KS2 & 3 introduce core musical concepts and guide learners through the basics of composition, giving them the confidence to move on to using a DAW.

Auralia and Musition

Auralia and Musition offer pre-prepared practice, quizzes, and assessment resources that cover all aural and theory subjects. With thousands of curriculum-aligned, auto-marked exercises and worksheets, students can practise at their own pace, and teachers can easily track their progress. Assign materials to your class groups or individuals, and have your students master the building blocks of music.

What about GDPR, Data Privacy and Terms of Use?

We are subject to the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) in relation to goods and services we offer to individuals and our wider operations in the UK and European Economic Area (EEA).

All programs in the Secondary Music Suite are GDPR compliant.

Powered by the Charanga and Music First platforms, each program in the Suite provides a unique set of complementary resources that operate differently and currently require individual user logins.

Charanga and MusicFirst, working together as Ovation Education jointly manage the Secondary Music Suite.

Privacy

Charanga and Music First are joint processors for the products in Secondary Music Suite.

We take your privacy very seriously. Please carefully read Charanga’s Privacy Notice and Music First’s Privacy Notice, and any other privacy or fair processing notices we may provide on specific occasions, as they explain the information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can update, manage, export, and delete your information.

When you sign up for a free trial or start a subscription for the Secondary Music Suite, the name, email address, and school name you provide are shared with the Suite program partners to facilitate individual logins and bespoke customer support for each program, including updates, promotional offers, and cross-program features.

Your information is never shared with third parties outside of the Suite program partnership for any other purposes without your explicit consent.
